In the center of the island, Holmes Beach Dog Park allows your pup to make new friends and let out some energy. This park is ideal for dogs since they have separate areas for small dogs and big dogs. You’ll find both locals and visitors bringing their furry friends here, so it’s a great place for humans to mingle as well! You can also bring your pup to Happy Tails Dog Park, where your pet can play in one of the three sections (based on their size) while you relax at a picnic table in the shade.
If your pup wants to splash around in the water, take them over to Palma Sola Causeway, just a 10-minute drive from Holmes Beach. Dogs are allowed off-leash here, but be aware that this beach is pretty close to the causeway. However, a bit further away, Fort Desoto State Park and Venice Brohard Paw Park are a couple more great options for your pet to enjoy the beach.
Finally, many of the shops and restaurants throughout AMI are pet-friendly. Most of them will have a sign at the entrance letting you know if your pet is allowed, but you can always ask if you’re not sure!
